COPING WITH COVID-19 – HOW TO DEAL MENTALLY WITH COVID-19 ANXIETY?

There is no doubt that since the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) there has been an increase in stress with my clients.

Fear and anxiety about any disease can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions, which can be a slippery slope unless addressed early on. For most of us living with others stress WILL need to be discussed and individual coping mechnisium designed and suited to your space.

The more that you openly discuss coping mechnisium the quickly you all will be able to diffuse them, NO POINT ARGUING, commons signs of stress during COVID-19 pandemic include;

  • Fear and worry about your own health and the health of your loved ones.
  • Changes in sleep or eating patterns.
  • Difficulty sleeping or concentrating.
  • Worsening of chronic health problems.
  • Worsening of mental health conditions.
  • Increased use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs.
  • Everyone reacts differently to stressful situations

How you respond to the outbreak can depend on your background, the things that make you different from other people, and the community you live in, for some their life will not be all that much different, for others it will have changed dramatically.

Here are some basic things that you can implement into your setting that will reduce stress in the house as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Lets face it, no one at the moment is having a great time, you are in the problem DO NOT BE PART OF IT.

Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting – limit to just 15 minutes per day and focus on the governmental advice rather than hearsay. SOCIAL MEDIA WILL KILL YOUR POSITIVE THINKING.

Take care of your body – exercise moderately every single day at home for at least 45 minutes. NO EXCUSES. Don’t be one of those people who are using it as an excuse to go out. If you exercise then go exercise don’t be selfish.

Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate – this can be done as part of the family group or on your own. Take time out and let everyone know what you are doing RESPECT the time and space of others within your family.

Eat healthy, well-balanced meals incorporating Carbs, Fats and Protein during the lockdown, now is not the time to start shifting to a new diet. IF you have been over indulging for the last few years then no is the time to take a break and watch what you eat. NO MORE FAT.

Get plenty of sleep and make sure you keep to health sleep cycles, avoid going to bed late and waking up outside of your normal hours. Keep to a healthy routine to avoid crashing when things return – YOU will regret it if you don’t.

Avoid alcohol and drugs. SIMPLE, don’t be an idiot and become someone you wouldn’t outside of the current pandemic. If you do, you will regret it. ACT NOW!

Connect with others and those you should have called before but didn’t because you created lame excuses. TIME TO DELIVER ON THOSE PROMISES.

Coping with Covid-19 starts with YOU and how you use this time wisely, there is no time for blame. Don't be the problem overcome it.
