You only need to look at the linked results on Google to see what people have been searching, and it appears that more and more are looking, struggling, questioning their own sanity.

I suspect searches have increased over the last few months within the Covid-19 lockdown.

There are significant issues with the collection of free mental quiz or tests available online, not something that I wish to go into here, but fortunately if you think you need one, it is unlikely you are functioning anywhere near a “crazy”.

For most developing serious mental illnesses, there is a disconnection between the realities they are experiencing, usually unaware and distanced from the reality of ‘knowing’. The difference being feeling and FACT!

Acting out can be for any number of rational reasons and possibilities, before opting for self-defining labels it maybe worth considering;

You’re having a Panic Attack

Your heart pounds. You're trembling or shaking, sweating, feeling dizzy. It's hard to breathe. And there's no obvious reason why.

Panic attacks can feel like you're losing your mind. But you're not, acknowledge the moment and avoid fighting it. Panic attacks usually last just a few minutes and are triggered by an underlying issue, in most cases a thought process based on historic trauma, pain, shock etc.

Most will experience a panic attack at least once in their life, while others may experience repeated panic attacks… either way, therapy can help handle them.

Feeling disconnected from societal belonging

Felling that you don’t belong or failing to find your community can instigate feelings other than just loneliness.

Some people can feel so disconnected that they fear becoming irrational, for example, by screaming and shouting and perhaps even striking out physically. If that sounds familiar, it could be time to reach out and ask for help.

The Start of Mental Illness

It's rare, but the feeling of “going crazy” could truly stem from a developing mental illness. They are feelings of losing their ability to make sense of things. They’re feeling overwhelmed.

If you're hearing things or seeing things that other people don't, it is time to book an appointment with your doctor. They can check on whether any physical illnesses might be causing the sensations you're noticing.

Another type of mental experience that might make someone wonder if they’re “going crazy” is the presence of obsessional thoughts that may make no sense but become a focus of worry and preoccupation.

For example, obsessions might involve a constant worry that something bad might happen, or an unreasonable fear about germs or contamination, or the conviction that something is physically wrong with one’s health despite a doctor’s reassurances.

Obsessions could be a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder, a condition in which the person on some level realizes that their fears and worries are excessive and unrealistic, yet cannot shake them without treatment.

When It's Time to Get Help

Right now!

Asking the question “am I crazy” would indicate that there is an underlying issue that you’d like to discuss, it maybe something that you feel is insignificant, but the fact that you are asking means it is significant enough to address.

The faster you address the issue the faster you’ll be able to move on.
